Bordeaux Bound…. Again!

Some might say that the best time to visit Bordeaux on a wine tasting tour and experience the rolling vineyards of St. Emilion, the Medoc and Graves in all their beauty would be during Autumn.  Towards the end of September, when the vines are overflowing with grapes perfectly ready for harvest, the views are breath-taking.  I’d argue; why not explore this region which is steeped in history, rich in culture and at the centre of it all a chic and stylish city to shop, eat and indulge in till your hearts content in December?

What surprised us initially was the ease with which we travelled to Bordeaux, just two hours from London and we were there!  SmoothRed’s itinerary was jammed packed with treats and we spent our first whole day exploring the vineyards with their guide.  We had private wine tours of three beautiful chateaux and their vineyards learning all about the harvest through to blending and of course, the very best bit, tasting.

Following a full days wine tasting tour of St. Emilion and having devoured an entire box of original Madame Blanchez macaroons, we chose to keep warm with a vin chaud while exploring the maze-like ‘Noel Marche’.  Bordeaux’s centre was transformed into a magical winter wonderland with little wooden huts and stalls, perfect for purchasing authentic and unique Christmas presents.

We loved the trip so much that we’ve booked to go again.  This time we’re going at the peak of the wine season and can’t wait to see the contrast.  We just can’t resist another wine tour and want to thank SmoothRed for putting together such a memorable trip.

Merci Beaucoup!
