About Sajia

What is your most memorable travel experience?

Sicily remains a defining travel experience. Travelling across the island as a student, I embraced the freedom and spontaneity of the journey, moving from sunlit coastal towns to the dramatic presence of Mount Etna, and walking into vineyards where time seemed to slow. Beyond the striking landscapes, it was the feeling of the place that left a lasting impression: long, unhurried meals, genuine hospitality, and complete immersion in a different atmosphere.

Which destination is next on your list?

Portugal is next, starting with Lisbon and Porto and then venturing further. I’m looking forward to wandering Lisbon’s historic neighbourhoods, discovering its evolving food scene, and enjoying long, unhurried evenings by the water. In Porto, I’m especially drawn to exploring the Douro Valley and visiting renowned wine estates and taking in the terraced vineyards that line the river. Beyond the cities, I’m keen to explore Portugal’s coastline, beach towns with more refined coastal retreats, all while working my way through its rich culinary traditions.

What is your favourite food you’ve had while travelling?

Truffle mushroom pasta is a personal favourite food I have had whilst in Italy, simple, indulgent which teleports me to Italy for that moment. Truffle can be an acquired taste at times, but I like to be adventurous and explore different flavours that express different regions.
