La Maison des Têtes

Alsace

Built in 1609 by a wealthy wine merchant, La Maison des Têtes is one of Colmar’s most iconic buildings.

Named after the 106 sculpted têtes (heads) on the building’s façade, this step-gabled mansion has been reinvented as a five-star Relais & Chateaux hotel, complete with Michelin-starred restaurant. Blending Alsatian heritage with 21st century design, it provides a superb base for exploring Colmar and Alsace wine country.

The 21 elegant rooms are a blend of Alsatian character with 21st century design. Wooden beams and wood panelling combine with sleek, minimalist furniture and a soothing, neutral colour scheme. Duplex and Character rooms offer additional space for families, while top-floor rooms have atmospheric sloping ceilings. Choose between a street or courtyard view.

The hotel offers two excellent dining options. The intimate, Michelin-starred Restaurant Girardin offers a modern, creative twist to traditional French cuisine, while showcasing local Alsace produce. Alternatively, head to Brasserie Historique for traditional Alsace cuisine in a warm, lively setting.

There are no wellness facilities here, but guests can enjoy a drink on the outdoor terrace, while the hotel is walking distance from many of Colmar’s main attractions, including Unterlinden Museum and Place Jeanne d’Arc.
