Château Le Cagnard

French Riviera

Perched on the medieval ramparts of Haut-de-Cagnes, Château Le Cagnard is a 13th century castle reinvented as an exquisite luxury hotel.

This hilltop village served as creative inspiration to Renoir, while providing a welcome hideaway for the likes of Brigitte Bardot and Greta Garbo. Today guests are charmed by its quaint medieval heritage, exceptional service, and far-reaching views.

Fully renovated in 2012, the 30 rooms and suites pay tribute to the chateau’s formidable heritage. Each room is individually designed, though original wooden beams, tiled floors, heavy drapery, elegant period furnishings and original paintings feature throughout. Bathrooms are luxurious and contemporary with heated floors, while it’s worth upgrading for a balcony or terrace.

The fine-dining restaurant serves modern Mediterranean cuisine showcasing local, seasonal produce in a magical setting. Dine on the terrace for sweeping panoramas of the Cap d’Antibes along the coast of France, or gaze up in wonder as the frescoed ceiling in the dining room slides back to reveal a twinkling night sky.

There are no wellness facilities or pool, but take the time to wander the pretty floral alleyways of this historic village, known as ‘the Montmartre of the Riviera’ or hop on the hotel shuttle to Cagnes-sur-Mer.
