Set in the upscale 8th arrondissement just over the river from the historic cultural hub of the Left Bank, Hotel Pavillon des Lettres is a literary-themed hotel that celebrates the cultural heritage of Paris.

This dinky boutique hotel offers modern interiors, cosy rooms and a very warm welcome just around the corner from the Élysées Palace and British Embassy, and near the high-end boutiques of Rue Saint-Honoré.

A nod to the 26 letters of the alphabet, each of the 26 rooms and suites is named after an author whose name begins with the associated letter, ranging from Hans Christian Andersen to Emile Zola. Each uniquely designed room offers understated luxury, with sober colours, soft fabrics and modern fixtures, while select extracts from the author’s works and associated imagery gives each room a particular atmosphere.

Get your day off to a fine start with a buffet breakfast in the hotel salon. Although the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, guests can order tapas during cocktail hour while an honesty bar runs throughout the afternoon and evening. As you might expect, this delightful hotel has a library in the salon with a selection of contemporary and classic literature in French and English – and several lovely nooks, perfect for curling up with a book.
