Or tie up your aprons and put your culinary skills to practice in a cookery class, where you will not only learn French recipes but also acquire the techniques. You can even shop the freshest ingredients alongside the chef!
Wine in Paris - did you know?
You might think that somewhere as urban as Paris would struggle to support many vineyards. And, well, you’d be right. BUT in the heart of urban Paris, in the shadow of Sacré-Coeur, is a hidden vineyard and one of the last remaining vines in central Paris. Its position on a hillside means it receives plenty of natural light.
The 18th arrondissement is the only district of the French capital with working wineries, and has been celebrated an annual wine festival since 1934. We’re delighted to report that the Paris has recently seen something of a revival in wine growing. More and more local growers are sprouting up and harvests are improving every year. So watch this space to see how things develop.
In the meantime, you’ll be pleased to hear that the streets of Paris are awash with the finest wines from across the rest of France (not literally though). For great wine cellars, head to Rue Mouffetard, or rely on SmoothRed and get the chance to try a selection of fine wines in a 17th-century wine cellar.
