Trip Inspiration

Picture a sea of azure blue. Gentle waves lap at the feet of rugged rocks as you stand high above, peering down from the top of breath-taking cliffs. Nearby, whitewashed villas hang precariously from steep slopes. You gaze up to the horizon where sea and sky meet in one vast, unbroken line of blue. A light wind ripples through the wild flowers and herbs that surround you, wafting heady perfumes that mix with the scent of lemons from nearby groves.

All these can be experienced in one of our trips to Italy’s Amalfi Coast, These are simply handpicked suggestions for the kind of holiday you might have. Yours will be tailored, and refined until it matches you completely.

More about the Amalfi Coast

No wonder people call this the Path of the Gods.

This stretch of coastline in Southern Italy’s Sorrentine Peninsula is famed for its dramatic scenery and rugged terrain. It’s the perfect place to spend a few days visiting picture-perfect seaside villages and sampling the local delights and delicacies. In the Amalfi Coast you’ll find natural beauty and charming souvenirs to bring back home.

The towns

Towns to visit include colourful, photogenic Positano with its fancy restaurants and trendy boutiques; refined Ravello with its enchanting gardens and remarkable views; and the somewhat grittier but no less charming Salerno, where scuzzy wine bars rub shoulders with medieval churches in the vibrant centro storico. Amalfi itself meanwhile is ideal in the early evening. Find a place on a piazza to admire a magnificent sunset as you enjoy a cocktail and the light, spongy magic of a babà limone.

The souvenirs

The Amalfi Coast is also known for artisanal products made with high-quality materials and ancient techniques. Each town stands out for a particular product.

In Vetri sul Mare you’ll find ceramics famous for their bright colours and floral motifs. Head to Sorrento for inlaid woodworks – different types of wood arranged into elaborate surface designs that stand out for their refinement and detail. In Positano get your custom handmade leather sandals. A rare find is the handmade Amalfi paper, dating back to the Middle Ages. You can even visit the museum at the paper mill! Finally, the unmissable souvenir, limoncello is easy to find all along the Amalfi Coast, especially in Naples, Sorrento and Amalfi.

The natural beauty

With so much natural beauty and diversity to admire, it makes sense to devote some time to take in these sights.

Hike the Path of the Gods, a stunning walking trail passing by gorges and cliffs, where generations of shepherds, farmers and foresters used to walk and still do. Discover the Emerald Grotto, a fairytale-like green sea cave and admire its natural carvings formed by the dripping water. Board a ferry to the island of Capri and be delighted at its history, ancient architecture and trails, and why not hop to Ischia as well? Thought not actually in the Amalfi Coast, Mount Vesuvius dominates most of the backdrops and it’s close enough for a day trip. Add the ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum for the full experience!
