Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is an 18th‑century manor house and wine estate transformed into an intimate Relais & Châteaux retreat.  

Surrounded by 120 hectares of vineyards that trace the valley contours, the estate blends timeless heritage with serene modern comfort: pastel‑washed rooms, Portuguese antiques, and panoramic terraces overlooking the Douro’s vineyard-clad slopes. It’s a deeply immersive place to unwind – intimate, restorative and inherently connected to its landscape.

Location

Located in Covas do Douro in the heart of the Cima Corgo region, the estate sits within one of the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions. You can arrive by car, train or even boat, stopping at Ferrão station just below the estate. Terraced vineyards, olive groves and winding valley roads surround the property, offering spectacular scenery in every direction. From here, explore neighbouring quintas, river viewpoints and quaint, nearby villages.

With just 11 rooms, Quinta Nova’s boutique scale ensures an intimate, personalised stay.  Rooms are peaceful and light‑filled, dressed in soft hues, natural fabrics and elegant Portuguese furnishings. Many open onto private terraces or fragrant gardens with sweeping views of the vineyards and the Douro River.
