More about Catalonia

There is a lot more to Catalonia than Barcelona. Explore the rest of Catalonia and you’ll open up a world of wonder. From the Pyrenees mountains and the rolling hills of the wine country to the numerous quaint villages along the coastline, Catalonia’s most must-see places are primetime viewing.

Barcelona

Barcelona is a vibrant city; it is at once cosmopolitan and very local, stylish and hip but bohemian, with popular Mediterranean sunshine. With incredible cuisine, iconic architecture, captivating culture, a blend of beach and city – it’s easy to fall in love with Barcelona.

Barcelona offers plenty to see and do in the city by the sea, and its proximity to the excellent wine regions of Penedés and Priorat make it an ideal destination for a wine a holiday.

The Pyrenees mountains

The Pyrenees Mountains offer a breathtaking escape with a variety of activities. Hike through a network of trails, cycle along scenic paths, and discover extinct volcanoes. The region is also known for its hearty Catalan cuisine, medieval towns, and rich cultural attractions, including numerous Romanesque monasteries.

The wine country

The Catalonia wine country is known for the production of Spain’s sparkling wine, Cava in the Penedès DO. Other 9 Designations of Origin are found in Catalonia, but only one is rated a DOCa, the premium quality rating, and that is Priorat. Only Rioja is the other wine region with this rating in Spain.

The winemaking tradition in Catalonia dates back to centuries and together with SmoothRed you can visit big names and family-run bodegas in these two exceptional subregions of Catalonia.
