Located on an 800-acre working estate surrounded by woodland and gardens, The Newt in Somerset is a West Country rural idyll. But this unique place is so much more than your typical country house hotel. In addition to the luxury accommodation, spa, swimming pool and restaurant, there are formal gardens, a deer park, museums, apple orchards, a cyder press, a reconstructed Roman villa, wild swimming pools, and enough activities to keep guests amused for days.
The Georgian mansion, Hadspen House, and stable yard have 23 rooms, with a further 17 in the Farmyard, accessed by bike or golf buggy. Those in the main house have an understated elegance with muted colours, stylish furniture and an uncluttered style. The Farmyard rooms ooze rustic chic with exposed stone and wood, and plenty of character. Some have personal steam pods.
There are three restaurants: The Botanical Rooms in the main house, the open-plan Kitchen in the Farmyard, and the glass-fronted Garden Café in the gardens. All offer seasonal menus with a focus on ingredients grown, reared or foraged on the estate. The Botanical Rooms is the fine dining option, incorporating fish from the Dorset coast. It also offers a divine tasting menu paired with cyder or wine from their cellar.
Relax and unwind in the spa, take a dip in the indoor-outdoor pool, or enjoy a workout in the gym. Guests are welcome to stroll through the formal and kitchen gardens, peek in the beehives, tour the cyder press and cellar, and stock up on produce in the Farm Shop.
