Set in a renovated stone farmhouse surrounded by the hills of Chianti, Villa Il Castagno offers a cosy, relaxing stay and a warm Tuscan welcome. With a large outdoor swimming pool, excellent restaurant and its own winery, this charming relais is the ideal place to escape the bustle of daily life and surround yourself in nature. However, its location close to Siena means it’s perfectly placed for exploring the region.
Each of the 10 suites is individually designed and named after a prominent Italian painter, such as Leonardo, Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Giotto. Rooms are bursting with character, with terracotta tiles, wooden beamed ceilings, beautiful fabrics, and a selection of antique furniture and paintings. All rooms have a lounge, and lovely views over the swimming pool or garden.
The hotel restaurant serves traditional Tuscan and Italian cuisine, using produce grown in the hotel gardens, while the wine bar is open late afternoon serving a selection of cutting boards and finger foods.
Relax around the pool, amble around the beautiful gardens, enjoy a wine and olive oil tasting, or treat yourself to a cookery class to learn the secrets of Tuscan cuisine.
