Day 1: Welcome to Beaujolais
Fly into Lyon and relax with private transfers on arrival to your accommodation, a beautiful château in Beaujolais, only a 15-minute drive from Beaujeu, home of the Festival Beaujolais Nouveau.
Beaujolais Nouveau, for the uninitiated, is one of the few wines in the world that is produced, bottled and released in only a matter of weeks, thanks to a winemaking technique known as carbonic maceration. The wine is red, bright, fruity and usually (quite unusually) served chilled.
On your first day, you’ll celebrate everything about this unique wine, with private transfers to the town for an evening of food, wine tasting, live music and dancing, before enjoying the fireworks at midnight and celebrations of the new wine that last until dawn.
Day 2: Barrel Making & Beaujolais Wine Tour
This morning, you’ll embark on a visit to a prestigious cooperage, to witness the first-hand craft of making barrels, before touring a local wine estate.
After a traditional lunch with accompanying wines, you’ll visit a further boutique wine estate before taking the evening to discover one of the region’s fine dining restaurants.
Day 3: Your Final Day in Beaujolais
Take the morning to enjoy the local châteaux surroundings, before visiting a nearby estate to try some of the very finest wine available in Beaujolais, and then relaxing with private transfers back to the airport before you fly home.

Start PlanningFAQs about our Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Experience
Is your Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Experience only available at a certain time of year?
Yes, our Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Experience takes place during the Festival Beaujolais Nouveau, which marks the release of new year’s Beaujolais Nouveau wine. This happens on the third Thursday of November each year.
Of course because all of our trips are entirely bespoke, if you want to enjoy a Beaujolais wine tasting tour at another time of year, we can absolutely make that happen!
What grape is Beaujolais Nouveau?
Beaujolais Nouveau is always made from the Gamay grape and is a young, fruity red wine. You can expect tasting notes of strawberry, cherry and raspberry, as well as some tropical notes like banana. Unlike many red wines, slightly chilling Beaujolais Nouveau before drinking is recommended!
