Day 5 – Franschhoek & Paarl

After breakfast, the day belongs to Franschhoek and the valley beyond. Settled by French Huguenot refugees in the late seventeenth century, it now holds more acclaimed restaurants per square kilometre than anywhere else in South Africa.

Begin with a walk through the village before a private visit and tasting at one of the valley’s most highly regarded producers. From here, head to Babylonstoren for a second relaxed tasting of their estate wines.

The afternoon takes you north to Paarl, one of the Cape colony’s first farming district, which lies at the foot of remarkable granite domes. Enjoy a premium tour and tasting in the KWV Cathedral Cellar – a building of remarkable scale and home to art exhibitions across the year.
