Day 1: Arrival and First Tasting in Bordeaux
Relax with private transfers from the airport. Check into a tranquil, five-star spa hotel surrounded by the lush vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte in the heart of France’s renowned wine region. Choose from a terrace or balcony with a view of the vineyard or lake – your view for the next two nights. This afternoon enjoy a tasting and tutorial at a nearby world-famous château. Before dinner relax with some treatments at the vinotherapy spa, take a dip in the pool or explore the lush hotel gardens with an aperitif with the option of a two-starred Michelin tasting menu for dinner (treatments and dinner are not included).
Day 2: Private Wine Tasting Tour through Pomerol & Saint-Émilion
The following day, your private wine guide will collect you after breakfast and you’ll be chauffeur-driven to a Premier Grand Cru Classé Château in Saint-Émilion to explore its cellars and winery before a morning wine tasting. Unwind with a memorable three course lunch in a two-star Michelin restaurant with accompanying wines. The final tasting of the day is at a Grand Cru Classified Château in Pomerol. At each venue you’ll taste the wines and meet the wine makers behind this world-renowned wine region. Alternatively should you prefer Cabernet Sauvignons, we offer a similar day tour of Bordeaux’s left Bank – the Médoc region.
Day 3: Settle into your Next Hotel in the Bay of Arcachon
Spend the morning enjoying the numerous spa treatments on offer in your hotel, or take the time to explore the nearby Bordeaux city centre before heading to your next destination, the Bay of Arcachon. Stay two further nights in the five-star former hunting lodge and oyster farming house Hotel La Co(o)rniche with outstanding views of the sea.
Day 4: Explore Arcachon Before your Afternoon Boat Trip
The day is yours to explore the local area or just soak up the tranquility of your accommodation. We suggest to visit the dune de Pyla, the highest dune in Europe! Discover the oyster sheds that are laid in rows one next to each other and that belong to the local oyster farmers that make this destination so well known to all French oyster aficionados. In the afternoon, enjoy a unique boat ride on board a local “Pinasse”, the traditional boats of the Bay of Arcachon. Discover the “Île aux oiseaux” (birds island). Île aux Oiseaux is surrounded by oyster beds and bird life of the bassin d’Arcachon. Near the island, the famous cabanes tchanquées (cabins on stilts) stand overlooking the water.
Day 5: Enjoy your Final day at Leisure
Enjoy one final dip in the spectacular infinity swimming pool, or a final seafood lunch before your private driver meets you to transport you to the airport. Not ready to go home? Extend with Michelin star dining experiences in the foodie destination of San Sebastian or Tempranillo tasting staying at Marqués de Riscal, designed by the famous architect Frank Gehry – please ask for details!
