FAQs about wine tasting tours in Rioja

What is the main town in Rioja?

The main town and capital of La Rioja wine region is Logroño. This major stop on the Camino de Santiago is not only a spiritual hub, but a major point of economic trade for Rioja wine and a culinary hub famous for its pincho (tapas) bars. While this is the most populous town in Rioja, it’s still a fairly compact town, with just over 150,000 people so is great for exploring on foot with many sites and a pedestrian-friendly, historic old town.

How far is Logroño from Bilbao?

The drive from Bilbao to Logroño takes around 1.5 hours. On our Luxury Rioja Wine Tasting Experience, this will be a comfortable and seamless experience with privately chauffeured transfers to and from the airport.

How long should I spend in Rioja?

How long you spend in Rioja depends entirely on how many wineries you’d like to visit and what else you might want to do. We recommend at least two nights, so you’ll have one full day to explore on a privately guided wine tour. We also recommend spending a night or two in Bilbao, indulging in the culinary delights of the Spanish Basque Country.
