Day 1: Welcome to Piedmont
Arrive in Turin, the capital city of Piedmont, and relax with private transfers to your vineyard accommodation. After settling into your room, enjoy with a wine reception with local delicacies on the terrace with a panoramic view of the Piedmontese countryside.
Day 2: Private Barolo Wine Tasting Tour
Your Piedmont wine experience continues with a stunning private Barolo wine tasting tour. The day begins with a visit to a winemaker in a village where they make lighter style Barolo where you can taste different local varieties and at least two Barolos from the most recent vintages. Later that morning visit a second boutique family estate enjoying a tour of the stunning vineyards.
In the afternoon, enjoy a wine tour and tasting of a bolder style classic Barolo at a prestigious winery.
Day 3: Continue Exploring Piedmont
Spend the day relaxing in the comfort of your accommodation. We suggest taking a picnic in the Piedmontese countryside or perhaps another day with a guide exploring the vineyards.
Barolo may be considered the “King of Wines and the Wine of Kings” but that doesn’t mean that we don’t recommend spending time discovering Barbaresco. Ask us about upgrade options for either a full- or half-day private Barbaresco tasting tour.
Day 4: From Piedmont to Tuscany by Train
The Piedmont town of Alba is just 10 minutes away by car and Asti is also nearby. Visit the local markets and boutique shops (transfers not included at this stage), or simply enjoy a morning swim in the pool before your private transfers take you to the train station.
On your rail journey, watch the mountains of Piedmont give way to the iconic rolling hills of Tuscany. Here you will stay in a boutique four-star hotel in the vibrant city of Florence.
Day 5: Chianti Wine Tasting Tour
Meet your small group tour in the city centre for your full-day wine tour of the Chianti vineyards. In the morning head to a wine estate for a tour of the winery to understand how the wines are made, from the viticulture, to wine making, to bottling followed by a tasting of four wines.
Next head to the village of Panzano in Chianti, famous for its high-quality wines but also for the Butcher, Dario Cecchini. You will visit the Butcher’s shop followed by lunch with wines. In the afternoon, visit a boutique wine estate where you will be greeted by a wine maker or the owner.
The final stop is in the “capital” of the Black Rooster Chianti Classico region, the village Greve in Chianti. Return to Florence later in the afternoon.
Day 6: Exploring Florence at Leisure
Take the day to explore Florence, a city of timeless beauty and jewel of the Renaissance. Florence is steeped in history, art and architecture – perhaps visit the cathedral or the legendary Uffizi Gallery, or some of the many boutique shops that the city keeps within its walls.
If you’d like, we can also arrange private Florence city tours, whether it’s a journey through renaissance art history or a Tuscan food tour. Ask us for details and options to tailor your journey.
