Day 1: Explore the landmarks of Venice
Upon arrival at Marco Polo Airport, you’ll be transferred to your luxurious hotel in the heart of Venice via private car, private water taxi or local vaporetto ferry, according to your preference and accommodation choice.
Refresh after your journey, then set out to explore the highlights of Venice on a private tour. Admire some of the floating city’s most celebrated landmarks and lesser-known sights on foot and via luxurious motor launch, including Piazza San Marco, the Doge’s Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Bridge of Sighs and the Grand Canal.
Day 2: Private Wine Tour Through the Hills of Prosecco
Following breakfast at your hotel, your private driver will collect you for a full-day chauffeured wine tour around the Prosecco Hills. This UNESCO-listed landscape is a patchwork of undulating hills, carpeted with vines and dotted with small Italian villages.
We can arrange this sparkling day tour around the wineries you would most like to visit, with options including Ca’ dei Zago, Silvano Follador, Bele Casel, Duca di Dolle, and Zucchetto. You’ll learn Prosecco wine-making processes from harvesting to bottling, meet the winemakers, and of course taste some of their famous fizz. Along the way, savour local cuisine paired with prosecco at a traditional trattoria and admire the views from Italy’s oldest wine road.
Day 3: Explore the Historic City of Padua
Free day to explore the charming city of Padua. Frequently overshadowed by its famous neighbour, Padua has a rich history and heritage and a more authentic vibe than Venice. Art history lovers will feel a sense of awe and wonder exploring the UNESCO-listed, 14th-century frescos by Giotto and his compatriots, while keen gardeners will adore the world’s oldest botanic garden, also a UNESCO site.
Home to Italy’s second oldest university, you can walk in the footsteps of Dante and Galileo as you explored tangled alleyways in the city centre and admire ancient university buildings. And don’t miss the giant open-air food market at Piazza delle Erbe for a riotous celebration of local food and drink.
Day 4: Tours & Tastings at Two Wineries in the Euganean Hills
Characterised by a cluster of cone-shaped hills of volcanic origin, the Euganean Hills is a lush landscape of forests, villages and vineyards located south of Padua. The region’s rich volcanic soil produces Serprino (a ‘volcanic’ version of Prosecco), Pinot Bianco, Garganega and Chardonnay, while Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Carmènere feature heavily for the reds.
Today’s private chauffeured wine tour takes you to two wineries in the Euganean Hills to meet the winemakers, discover first-hand their winemaking processes, and sample their vintages. You’ll also visit Arquà Petrarca, a medieval village set amid the vineyards that’s regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Day 5: Explore the City of Venice with a Private Guide
Today, you’ll exchange the canals of Venice for the romantic streets of Verona. After a private transfer between cities, check into your hotel, then set out on a private guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage city and the home of Romeo and Juliet.
Experience the grandeur of the Roman era with a visit to the beautifully preserved amphitheatre, the Arena di Verona. Then amble through evocative medieval courtyards and winding streets, passing the Duomo and noting the rich blend of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance. Along the way, you’ll visit Juliet’s house, the ultimate shrine for romantics and Shakespeare fans.
Day 6: Tour Two Wineries in Valpolicella
Discover one of the world’s oldest wine-producing regions with a full-day private chauffeured tour through Valpolicella. Learn about the region’s wine-making heritage, which dates back to Roman times, and the unique varietals produced here, including Valpolicella and the renowned Amarone. You’ll meet the winemakers at two wineries to stroll through the vineyards, learn the special production techniques behind Amarone, and savour a tutored tasting of their wines.
The tour includes a lunch of local dishes paired with Veneto wines, and a visit to the picturesque village of San Giorgio Ingannapoltron. Carved into the limestone landscape, this is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy with spectacular views across the hills of Valpolicella to Lake Garda.
Day 7: Enjoy Wine Tours Around the Morainic Hills
Situated to the south of Lake Garda, the Morainic Hills is a landscape of gently rolling hills, carpeted by vineyards and lush forests, and dotted with small villages, castles and historic buildings. Discover the fresh, floral white wines of Custoza, and the more complex white and sparkling wines of Lugana, as you visit a winery in each region to tour the vineyards, meet the winemakers, and sip your way through some of their vintages.
Your tour includes a traditional lunch paired with local wines, and a visit to another of Italy’s most beautiful villages. Built on the river Mincio, Borghetto sul Mincio is a picture-postcard hamlet with old water mills lining the banks of the river.
Day 8: Discover the Contrasting Regions of Soave and Durello
Today’s private chauffeured wine tour takes you east of Verona to explore two very different wine regions. One of the most exported Italian whites, Soave is undergoing something of a renaissance since the mass-produced wines of the 1970s and 1980s. You’ll visit one family-run winery for a tour and tasting, and visit the pretty medieval town of Soave to explore its fortifications, drink in the views, and enjoy lunch in a traditional trattoria.
In contrast, the lesser-known region of Durello is producing some new generation sparklers in the Lessini Mountains, made from the ancient grape variety, Durella. Discover how this sparkling wine is produced and enjoy the sound of popping corks as you sample this exciting fizz.
Day 9: Relax at your Next Accommodation in Lake Garda
After a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, your driver will collect you for a private transfer to Lake Garda. Check into your luxurious accommodation on the picturesque peninsula of Sirmione, then enjoy some free time to explore.
Enjoy a lakeside stroll along the promenade, stopping for a gelato with a view. Wander into the historic town centre to explore the pretty churches and perfectly preserved fortress. Or treat yourself to a rejuvenating visit to the local thermal spas.
Day 10: Wine Tours Across Three Vineyards in Lombardy
Nestled in the foothills of the Alps near the southern shores of Lake Iseo, Franciacorta is a compact wine region that’s home to one of Italy’s best-kept secrets. With a history of winemaking dating back to at least the Middle Ages, Franciacorta is renowned for its eponymous sparkling wines, produced using the classic method using the same varietals as champagne – chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot blanc – but with a distinctly Italian style.
Your final chauffeured wine tour takes you into this picturesque region of Lombardy to visit three vineyards where you’ll meet the winemakers, discover the intricate process of creating these exquisite bubbles, and savour a selection of Brut, Rosè and Satèn.
