Trip details

Day 1

Upon arrival at Lisbon Airport, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to the five-star hotel, located in the heart of Lisbon, this exquisitely restored 16th century palace is perfectly placed for exploring the city.

After settling in, get acquainted with Lisbon’s oldest and most atmospheric district on a private walking tour around picturesque Alfama.

In the evening, we can provide recommendations and reservations for dinner to get your trip off to the perfect start.

Day 2

Today you have a free day to explore Lisbon. Discover Lisbon’s historic heritage and traditional neighbourhoods on the famous number 28 tram, visit Lisbon Cathedral and the medieval São Jorge Castle, and take in the picture-perfect views from some of the city’s famed viewpoints.

You might like to enjoy a little downtime in the pool and spa at your hotel before a truly extraordinary dinner. Boasting two Michelin stars and a place on the coveted ‘The World’s 50 Best Restaurants’ list, you’ll enjoy the tasting menu paired with Portuguese wines at Belcanto.

Day 3

After breakfast, your private guide will collect you for a day’s wine tasting tour around Colares and Sintra. Historic Colares occupies a narrow strip of land between Sintra Mountain and the Atlantic Sea, and this tiny DOC grows the only vine variety in Europe never to have been grafted on to phylloxera-resistant American vine roots.

Discover more about this fascinating region and the grape varieties grown here, with two winery visits and tastings. The day also includes a superb lunch with accompanying wines overlooking Praia Grande, and time to pop into the fairy-tale town of Sintra to see the magical Pena Palace.

In the evening, enjoy the nightlife and restaurants of Bairro Alto.

Day 4

After breakfast, it’s time to check out of your Lisbon hotel and head south. You’ll spend the first part of the day touring the lush Arrabida Natural Park on the Setúbal Peninsula. Hike through verdant hills watching for dolphins frolicking in the Sado Estuary, enjoy a fresh seafood lunch with local wine, and sample the renowned local cheeses.

Your base for the next three nights is Sublime Comporta, a sleek boutique hotel nestled amongst the sweeping sand dunes, pine forests and rice fields of Comporta in rural Alentejo.

Enjoy a local wine tasting experience, before savouring a meal of creative, seasonal cuisine in the exquisite hotel restaurant, Sem Porta (dinner not included).

Day 5

The sleepy fishing village of Comporta with its dreamy windswept coastline is a jealously guarded secret amongst the European elite, and today you’ll discover why as you set off on a private e-biking experience around the region. The trip includes a visit to the ramshackle but highly photogenic fishing port at Carrasqueira.

In the afternoon, soak up the delights of your hotel – there’s a choice of pools, spa and yoga pavilion – or unwind on the beach, before spending your evening in the bars and restaurants of Comporta and Carvalhal.

Day 6

After breakfast, your private guide will collect you for a full day wine tour around Alentejo and Evora. You’ll visit one of the oldest wineries in this romantic wine region, sample some of Portugal’s most famous wines, and soak up the ambiance as you travel through rolling hills and past cork forests and captivating hamlets.

The trip includes a guided walking tour of Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with historic buildings, Roman ruins and an elaborate cathedral wrapped within its medieval walls.

Day 7

Your Portuguese adventure concludes today, but there may be time to squeeze in a final spa treatment after breakfast before your private transfer back to the airport, or continue your trip and discover Porto and the Douro Valley?
