The Marathon du Médoc 10th September 2016

The Marathon du Médoc is a long-distance footrace which occurs every year in September (this year, on Saturday the 10th), and sees 10,000 participants embark on a 26-mile marathon, (often-times fully-costumed) through the vineyards of Bordeaux, stopping 27 times along the way for all sorts of local delicacies, including cheese, oysters, steak, ice cream, locally-made wines (obviously) and many, many more. Fireworks, dancers, bands and more crowd the starting and finish lines, and every year the race tends to get ever more ridiculous and extravagant. Entry to participate in the race is closed, but we’ve managed to get hold of 20 bibs – and we’re offering registration and a night’s stay in a 4* hotel in Bordeaux’s city centre for £229. Or, if you want to go one further, we’re also offering all that plus an afternoon’s wine tasting tour in St. Emilion the day after the race for £339, in which you’ll visit the charming medieval village of Saint-Emilion and enjoy tastings at two local châteaux – a smaller, family-owned establishment as well as a prestigious, world-renowned Classified Growth estate. We know it’s basically a cliché, but you really won’t get this anywhere else.
