Operations Executive

SmoothRed is luxury wine tour operator creating tailor-made gourmet, wine, and cultural holidays in the UK and Europe.

Do you love wine and travel? Do you love researching and planning trips? If so we have an opening for someone to join our growing team. This role will suit someone who loves planning all of the holidays in their friendship group!

We’re a growing multicultural team made up of sales, operations and accounts professionals and we’re looking for an operations executive to assist in taking on our expanding workload! You will the first point of contact for clients and external suppliers. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of duties – and therefore benefit from having a great overview of how a travel company operates.

Role Responsibility:

  • Acting as a professional ambassador for the SmoothRed brand when liaising with all clients and suppliers
  • Liaising with a range of suppliers in the UK and Europe, including hotels, tour guides, transport companies and wine guides etc.
  • Diligently checking all bookings for accuracy; this may require that you chase contacts for confirmations and check the finer details of all our travel experiences.
  • Ensuring our in-house management system is up to date with our suppliers details, client information, correctly sized images, etc.
  • Prepare, write, proofread, and stylise personalised app itineraries on our SmoothRed app management system
  • On occasions, assisting the operations team with wine event management (this will include confirming bookings, presentations, liaising with the client and possibly attending the events).
  • Researching information about our destinations, e.g. restaurants, tourist activities, and iconic events for the calendar.

Your Personality:

  • Have a proactive, can-do attitude and be confident working closely across all departments, particularly with sales and accounts.
  • Strong written and spoken command of English is a must and a second European language is a bonus (but not required).
  • Have a keen interest in and knowledge of travel and hospitality sectors, and preferably wine
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to work to quick deadlines.
  • Excellent Excel and Office skills, assisting in managing various spreadsheets.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills; you’ll be using the phone, email and written correspondence on behalf of the company.
  • Highly organised with the ability to organise and prioritise their workload.
  • Be a team player! Happy to work under the guidance of members of the team and equally be given some autonomy to set up your own ways of working.

  • Start date: immediately
  • Wine Friday and annual away weekends are a must!
  • Located in: Wandsworth SW18.
  • Knowledge of a European language is also a bonus but not essential.
  • Contract: Monday-Friday, 09.00-18.00 (occasional weekends in high season)
  • Remuneration:  TBC, dependent on experience.

Travel Sales Specialist

SmoothRed requires an enthusiastic, sales-focused individual to join the team. This is an opportunity to launch your career in the field of tailor made holidays, specialising in wine travel and bespoke events. The more you sell, the more you earn, so when you’re not bringing in new business, you’ll be contacting our existing clients. You will be responsible for driving and facilitating sales by providing a proactive, professional and efficient sale service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing company recognised as one of the best in its field and to build and develop your own client list. The successful candidate will work sociable hours from our office in SW London. French, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish languages useful but not essential


Salary will be based on experience with an excellent uncapped commission structure (OTE 25k / 35K)

Role Responsibility:

  • Responding to customer enquiries by telephone and e-mail and logging on our database.
  • Pursuing all sales opportunities and leads on a regular basis with a view to sales conversion.
  • Designing and arranging unique itineraries for tailor-made travel and events for both private and corporate clients.
  • Making outbound marketing calls to our client database to promote new destinations and advise on future travel ideas.
  • Collecting and processing payments and other general administrative duties.

Your Personality:

  • Excellent verbal communication and organisational skills throughout the booking to offer the best customer service before, during and after the experience.
  • An intuitive listener who can respond to and reassure clients on a wide range of travel experiences.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Europe.
  • Sales skills and experience in a target-driven role. Experience in the travel industry is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of English language both oral and written.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with creative flair when appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality.
  • Flexibility to adapt within a growing business.
  • Availability to work full time on a rotating shift, including some Saturday work.
  • Oh, and a sense of humour!

  • Start date: Immediately.
  • Experience in sales. 1+ year experience in B2C sales would be a bonus
  • Located in: Wandsworth SW18.

Need to know:

Working hours are 09:00-18:00 at our offices in London, 5 days a week (occasional weekend cover required). You’ll be working in a team of young, hard-working and passionate travellers from a range of countries! Annual staff trip and Wine Friday is a must!
