Trip details

Day 1

Relax with Eurostar travel from London, and you will be met on arrival by private transfers to take you to the hotel. Check in to your fairytale 19th century castle set amongst the prestigious vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape – your home for the next two nights.  The on-site restaurant serves exceptional seasonal and locally-sourced Provençal-style cuisine. Enjoy a pre-dinner tasting and private tutorial of four wines and a selection of local cheeses from one of the region’s expert wine guides. This is the perfect way for wine lovers of all levels to orient themselves with the tastes and terroirs of this region.

Day 2

After breakfast, there’s no time to waste as you meet your English-speaking guide and driver and set off for a private Provençal wine-tasting road trip. Throughout the day you’ll visit two Rhône Valley wine appellations including the world-famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Here you’ll learn secrets of old and new as you compare the wine making techniques of yesterday and today. Relax for lunch at a restaurant run by third-generation winemakers, with stunning views of  Mont Ventoux and the Luberon and visit their well-stocked wine cellar. Do try their tarte à la tomate confite – a lovely local speciality made with goat’s cheese.

Day 3

On your final day you’re free to explore Avignon and the imposing Palais des Papes, the picturesque squares, shops and galleries, and see artists, actors, mimes and musicians plying their trade. The surrounding gardens of Rocher des Doms and lush lavender fields are also well worth a visit. Relax with private transfers to Avignon station, followed by rail travel to London or Paris.
