Trip details

Day 1

Travel from London St Pancras by Eurostar (via Paris) to Champagne. You will be met at the station by private transfers and taken to your four star hotel in the capital of Champagne. After settling into your hotel in the heart of historic Reims, relax with a glass of bubbles in the comfort of your accommodation’s trendy Champagne bar (not included).

Day 2

The following day your friendly English speaking wine guide will take you on a full wine tour to the nearby Côtes des Blancs and Grand Cru Village vineyards. Enjoy the scenery of the grandeur of the famous Avenue du Champagne in Epernay. Today you will visit two estates including the sparkling and glamorous Moët & Chandon, this legendary brand is now one of the most expensive estates in the region . You will also visit a family run estate where you’ll meet the maker and be invited to explore their cellars, taste their wines and share their passion whilst you learn a few things about the production process.   You’ll sample at least seven Champagnes throughout the day and stop for a leisurely champagne tasting lunch in a nearby restaurant or another wine estate.  This day tour includes a visit to the village of Hautvillers and a chance to see the tomb of Dom Perignon – the monk to which we owe thanks for all these bubbles.

Day 3

The final day in the Capital of Champagne is yours to explore. Perhaps a visit to the gothic splendour of Notre Dame Cathedral, a final wander among the winding streets of Reims or simply relax in your hotel’s pool before your next destination, Alsace. Relax with rail travel to Strasbourg. Settle into your four-star hotel in the heart of Strasbourg with breakfasts included.

Day 4

Your full day tour begins with a visit to the Mittelbergheim region, famous for the Zotzenberg, Katelberg and Wiebelsberg Grand Crus. Here you will sample a variety of different grape varieties including Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner and Riesling. This is followed by a visit to Dambach la ville which is considered to be the heart of the Alsace wine region and home of the Grand Cru ‘Frankenstein’ as well as the world famous Riesling and Gewurztraminer. This includes a wine tasting in a ‘caveau’ – the name given to local wineries. You’ll be able to enjoy free time for lunch and to explore at your leisure before moving on to the medieval town of Riquewihr region where Riesling is the dominant grape variety in addition to Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Muscat.

Le Cedre Beaune , Beaune - 5 Star Hotel in Burgundy
Day 5

A free morning to enjoy Strasbourg, the city is chiefly known for its sandstone Gothic Cathedral with its famous astronomical clock, and for its medieval cityscape of Rhineland black and white timber-framed buildings. In the afternoon, relax with private transfers to the station for your train to Beaune, in Burgundy. On arrival in Beaune, settle into your charming hotel in Beaune before exploring the cobbled streets of this chocolate box town.

Day 6

Enjoy a small group wine tour across Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Start the day with a trip to the Côte de Nuits – the northern half of the Côte d’Or wine region in Burgundy. It specialises in red wines made predominantly from Pinot Noir, the most famous and expensive of which come from the Grand Cru vineyards of Vosne-Romanee and Chambolle-Musigny. With your appetite well and truly stoked, it’s free time time for your traditional Bourgogne lunch.

Day 7

After breakfast stroll to one of the region’s longest family cellars where you’ll enjoy your last Burgundy wine tasting! There’s just enough time to explore Beaune’s labyrinthine backstreets and alleyways, before bidding farewell to the capital of Burgundy wines. Relax with private transfers to the station, followed by rail travel back London.
