Trip details

Day 1

On arrival in Madeira, relax with private transfers. Stay in a five-star escape, set in verdant clifftop gardens overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by lush subtropical gardens, Belmond Reid’s Palace is perched above the picture-perfect harbour of Funchal. Local pastries on arrival with a welcome bottle of Madeira to enjoy.

Late in the afternoon, visit a famous Madeiran wine lodge with a private tour and exclusive view of the family’s private collection of unique Vintage Madeiras, followed by a wonderful vertical tasting of six wines.

Free evening to unwind with dinner at the hotel restaurant which overlooks the landscaped grounds.

Day 2

Enjoy a full-day private wine experience. You will start your day visiting a traditional working Quinta, which has been in its family for seven successive generations.

You will then head west where you will stop at Cabo Girão, the highest sea cliff in Europe. From here you will visit the charming and picturesque village of Câmara de Lobos, once painted by Mr. Winston Churchill during his stay in Madeira. Here, you will be visiting a famous Madeiran wine estate before unwinding with a wonderful local tasting. Visit Fajã dos Padres and take a cable car 300 metres down the steep cliffs with your guide for lunch, and taste fresh seafood with uninterrupted ocean views.

Day 3

Today we will be taking you to the north of the island with breathtaking landscapes of the mountains of Madeira. You will be driven along the south-western coast of Madeira, passing through the picturesque village of Serra de Agua. Discover São Vicente village and explore a boutique winery producing Madeiran table wines. Walk through the vineyard while the guide explains all that you need to know about the project and wines. At the end of the tour, you’ll also have the opportunity to taste the wines while surrounded by an amazing mountain landscape.

Visit Santana for a delicious lunch lunch. This is rural Madeira at its finest. Surrounded by vineyards with views over the dramatic coast line, witness the natural reserve of Rocha do Navio and Madeira’s highest mountain.

Day 4

Wake up and enjoy stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean while basking under the sun between dips in the luxurious, heated swimming pool. Alternatively, you can wander down the sea level platform and jump straight into the azure ocean.

Enjoy a day to relax and explore Funchal: why not visit the famous market or Madeira’s world-famous Botanical Gardens before flying home.
