Soak up the delights of Bordeaux and the city of Cognac with a rich history, savor this epic four-night wine journey. Enjoy a tasting session introducing you to the terroirs and tastes of the region, followed by a full wine tour in the scenic vineyards of Saint Emilion – world famous for it’s fruity Merlots. Here you’ll visit two Grand Cru Classé Châteaux and explore the chocolate box village of Saint Emilion. Next up is Cognac, a treasure trove of Romanesque churches, historic villages, and charming riverside mills dotted around both iconic eststes, and smaller boutique houses.

Trip details

Day 1

Relax with private transfers to Bordeaux city from the airport, and settle into your luxury boutique hotel. In the afternoon soak up the ambiance of its many brasseries and bars and see for yourself why Bordeaux is a designated UNESCO world heritage site. In the evening, enjoy a wine tasting dinner experience in a cosy restaurant in the heart of Bordeaux city. Discover the underground vaulted cheese cellar with 100 cheeses!

Day 2

Your Bordeaux wine tasting tour continues with a excursion into the vineyards themselves including a tour of the delightful village of of Saint-Emilion, home to some of the most heavily-exported and popular wines in Bordeaux. Throughout the day your guide will take you for tastings at two Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé Châteaux to learn about the complexities behind the production of the wines, as well as a tour to discover the fascinating history of Saint-Emilion itself. Enjoy free time for lunch in the heart of Saint-Emilion, the first French vineyard to be listed in the UNESCO world heritage.

Day 3

Free time to visit the famous food market in Bordeaux and discover the Marché des Capucins, one of the oldest markets in France.

Travel north towards Cognac with your driver. Tour a family distillery with its 41 pot stills, the ageing cellars and the “paradise” cellar to learn more about the Maison.

Enjoy an exceptional Cognac tasting experience paired with gourmet delacies served at the top of the mill, offering a breathtaking view over the vineyards.

Unwind with a two night stay in Cognac. Stroll along the cobblestone streets to soak up the atmosphere with its charming streets and boutiques.

Day 4

Following breakfast, visit the famous Cognac Houses and family owned estates with one of our expert local guides. Begin the day at Hennessy in the vineyards to its historic cellars, discover some of the secrets behind their time-honored craftsmanship and rituals before relaxing for a local lunch.

In the afternoon, you will meet two family cognac producers during a private tour of their wine cellars and distilleries.

During the course of the day enjoy explanations on the relationship between craft distillers and famous cognac trading houses.

Day 5

Spend the morning to explore Cognac, a chnace to walk along the promenade, you’ll pass by the port of Cognac, the Hennessy house, le Chateau de Cognac (now the Otard Cognac house). One monument you can’t miss along the river is the impressive Tours Saint Jacques, one of the only remains left from medieval times.

Relax with trasnfers back to Bordeaux. Or if you prfer to extned toyur trip, why not travel west along the coast to La Rochelle.
