Trip details

Day 1

Arrive in the beautiful city of Lisbon with a private transfer direct to your hotel, one of the oldest cities in western Europe.  A charming city to discover on foot. Unwind in a boutique hotel located at the heart of Lisbon’s traditional and charming Alfama district, the city’s historic area.

Day 2

A free morning to explore the city. The famous tram 28 will take you to the oldest and most picturesque district of the city, with its labyrinths of narrow streets and façades covered with glazed tiles. Visit the Castle of Saint Jorge. Built in the mid-11th century, during the Moorish period, walk through the most traditional districts of the city, starting with Rossio Square.

Enjoy a memorable gourmet food tour. You will taste some of the finest specialties of Portuguese gastronomy combined with a more sophisticated cuisine as well as some of the best-known Portuguese wines. Walk off lunch with a visit to the Church of São Roque in Lisbon.

Day 3

Explore Sintra and Cascais with your private guide. After breakfast  you’ll set off towards the romantic village of Sintra, known for its beautiful palaces and parks. After a walking tour, you will have time to taste the local traditional pastries, before driving to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point in Continental Europe, with superb views over the Atlantic Ocean, visit to a winery in Colares on the Atlantic coast with a stunning tasting.

Lunch will be served on a beautiful setting overlooking the Atlantic. The restaurant is a perfect getaway inspired by the big swells of the Atlantic Ocean. The traditional Portuguese food here is presented with sophistication but always with a family tone, enjoy a wonderful wine and food pairing menu! In the afternoon visit to Cascais, the Portuguese riviera on the way back to Lisbon.

Day 4

Meet with your private guide after breakfast. Visit to Palmela Castle to get a geographical and historic grasp of the region before visiting a very typical winery that produces still wines and fortified wines. Lunch will be in  the Setubal region. Visit to the stunning National Park of Arrábida, ending the day with a very special winery where wine and art are omnipresent. Tonight you will stay in Monsaraz, a charming Country House hotel is situated on Herdade da Geralda. Free time for dinner with views over the the amazing Alqueva lake.

Day 5

The morning to relax and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views from the hotel. Visit the historic village of Monsaraz, with lunch on the medieval walls overlooking the vineyards and surrounding landscapes.

Visit to a winery that is known for its preference for doing small batches and trying to recover autochthonous grape varieties at risk of extinction. End the day in a historic hotel and luxury spa housed in a centuries-old converted convent in the charming historic city of Évora.

 

Day 6

Meet with your private guide after breakfast, visit the walled city of Évora a UNESCO World Heritage Site, right in the heart of Alentejo. Explore the historic center with a traditional lunch paired with local wines. In the afternoon visit to a winery where you will taste beautiful wines of the region on an estate that embodies classic Alentejo with a quaint landscape, diverse ecosystem and traditional cultures of the region. In the evening a chance to unwind and relax at your hotel.

Day 7

Meet with your private guide after breakfast, travel to the Douro, visiting the Dão region. Head to a family owned winery for a tour, tasting and lunch. The day continues as you travel to the the Douro. Tonight, stay in a luxurious Wine House Hotel in the heart of the Douro region, surrounded by extensive private grounds and vineyards.

Day 8

Your Douro experience continues with a day tour exploring the Valley. Visit a prestigious Port Lodge and enjoy a guided walking tour through the estate and the vineyards, finished with a morning Port tasting. After lunch, you’ll visit the last lodge of the day with a tour and wine-tasting session in another prestigious Port Lodge. Take a stunning vintage boat trip along the banks of the Douro.

Day 9

Wake up and enjoy the stunning Douro Valley views. Time for a morning swim before you leave! Visit to the Historic city of Lamego before travelling to the Vinho Verde wine region, visit is a family owned business that makes wines since 1870. Tour the winery, cellars and tranquil gardens before enjoying lunch at the estate.

In the late afternoon travelling down the valley to Porto staying in a boutique hotel close to the Ribera District.

Day 10

A free day to explore the city. Separated from Porto by the sweeping Douro River, this bustling town is the true home of Port production – the perfect place to end your trip with a tour of the ageing cellars and a tasting of fine wines in a prestigious lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia. In the evening enjoy an amazing two-Michelin star 20-course tasting menu paired with wines and views over the ocean. This is  a truly marvelous culinary experience in this restaurant occupying a property declared a National Monument and located on the rocks above the beach right by the water’s edge.

Day 11

The final day of your trip is yours to explore Porto. The city reveals its magical secrets as you wander its charming streets, taking in such splendid sights as the Porto Cathedral, the gothic-style Church of Saint Francis and the old Stock Exchange Palace. Relax with private transfers back to the airport.
