Fly into Hungary’s historic capital Budapest and pick up the hire car to drive to the Tokaj region, just over two hours from the capital. Rest your head the next three nights in a luxurious 5 star spa hotel located in the famous Tokaj-Hegyalja wine region.
Explore the region and learn about the wines with a private day in the vineyards with an English speaking guide. The first winery is set just outside of the village of Bodrogkisfalud, to a winery established in 2000 which strives to revive centuries-old family traditions of winemaking in Tokaj with modern techniques. Enjoy a further visit at a family-run winery, including a vineyard tour on their 4WD John Deere offroaders. After the visit, enjoy lunch with wines. The final wine estate of the day is a ‘garage winery’ by an ambitious winer-maker, it was established in 2006. In the afternoon, the guide will take you back to the hotel
This day is to relax and unwind in the hotel’s facilities, the hotel offers luxurious rooms and a modern spa area including 2 indoor pools, a bathing grotto and a hot tub. That afternoon walk to a local winery for a tour of the wine estate followed by a tasting of six wines.
On the final day, again make use of the spa or a chance to visit Eger and taste the famous ‘bulls blood’ or perhaps spend the day in the capital city Budapest, before flying home that evening.
