Where is best for a wine tasting weekend in Europe?

In Europe, the easiest wine regions to visit for a weekend are those with direct flight connections from the UK or easy train links. Some of our favourite wine tasting weekend destinations are in France, Italy, Spain – and if you really don’t want to go far, right here in the UK!

In France, Champagne is one of the quickest regions to get to, as Reims is just under an hour by train from Paris. From London, you can be in the vines in less than four hours door-to-door. Burgundy and Bordeaux are also easy.

In Spain, Rioja, Catalonia and Andalusia are all options, while in Italy you can get direct flights into Tuscany and Piedmont that are around two hours.

And right here in England, Kent and Sussex are right on our doorstep, producing sparkling wines that rival Champagne! If you fancy somewhere that little bit further without leaving our shores, then a weekend retreat at a luxury vineyard hotel in Dorset may be the answer.

What's the best weekend wine tasting destination for couples?

You can’t beat the romance of a vineyard weekend getaway for couples. Our favourite regions a romantic retreat are the classics – Champagne, Burgundy and Tuscany.

Champagne has a range of luxurious hotel options with spas for that special touch and the region’s eponymous sparkling wine is perfect for marking a celebration.

In Burgundy, we have access to a one-bedroom retreat in the middle of a vineyard that isn’t available to the public. This is the ultimate spot for an exclusive getaway.

And of course, Tuscany’s rustic Italian charm is a perennial favourite, with the perfect combination of world-class red wines and gourmet delights.
