Trip details

Day 1

Sit back and relax with first class rail travel from London to Exeter with private transfers on arrival.

Stay in a superb country house hotel, a luxury manor set within a 28-acre estate in Devon, with panoramic views of the beautiful Exe estuary.

Relax with afternoon tea: freshly made sandwiches, scones just out of the oven spread with thick Devon clotted cream, local jams and preserves as well as a selection of cakes and French pâtisseries paired with a glass of champagne.

In the evening enjoy a sensational Michelin-star dining experience, a spectacular eight-course tasting menu paired with wine.

 

Day 2

Wake up with spectacular views over the Estuary. After breakfast why not take a stroll in to Lymstone Village.

Explore the cobbled quays, the harbour, or view fascinating architecture – from Grade-listed buildings to contemporary dwellings. Visit the Parish Church or stroll along one of the many footpaths that criss-cross the village. Weather permitting, take a boat across the estuary and visit the beautiful grounds and gardens of Powderham Castle (please ask for details).

Drive down to the South Devon coast, and take a private river cruise up the River Dart for a guided wine tasting with light lunch. Following this there will be an opportunity to take a walk around the picturesque and historical town of Dartmouth.

In the late afternoon, a private tasting has been arranged. Enjoy a wonderful exclusive wine tasting at the estate with a unique and varied selection of wines.

Day 3

Meet with your guide after breakfast. Today is a full-day private English wine tour around Devon.

Travelling south into the beautiful East Devon countryside, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the historic Jurassic Coastline, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. Visit a small family run boutique vineyard established in 2005 that produces award-winning world-class wines.

The day unfolds visiting another family estate with explanations of the vine varieties and challenges of growing grapes in Devon, ending with a tasting of some of the best sparkling wine that England has to offer.

Unwind with a fabulous lunch, tasting local specialities and, of course, more wines from the region!

In the afternoon, visit a small family-run business nestled in the Teign Valley, the estate dating back to the 1600s. This is always a superb way to end the day with a great tasting.

Day 4

After breakfast, enjoy a chance to leisurely walk among the grounds. The Lady’s Walk is a circular route developed in 1760 which extends around the boundary of the estate, skirting to the edge of the estuary where you can head out onto the shingle foreshore, or follow the track around and join the modern Exe Estuary Trail. Or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, why not visit the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site.
