Trip details

Day 1

Arrive in the cathedral city of York and stay two nights at the best address for luxury, just a stone’s throw from the River Ouse and ideally located for exploring the cobblestone streets of yore.

York is a fantastic hub for combining both culture and history while also discovering some of the best spots along the Yorkshire Wine Trail.

Relax with private transfers and enjoy a guided tour of a family-run vineyard and brewery between York and Harrogate, where you’ll taste award-winning fine English wine.

In the evening, savour a a five-course tasting menu which uses seasonal ingredients from the best local suppliers, and paired with wines to elevate the experience.

Day 2

Enjoy a full-day chauffeured English wine tour around Yorkshire.

In the morning visit a family estate tucked away in the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds with stunning views. The South-facing, chalk hillside is the perfect terroir for grape-growing; the estate now grow over 8,000 vines of various white and red varieties.

Unwind with lunch in a fabulous 19th-century pub, enjoying seasonal British and locally-sourced cuisine, paired with local wines.

Nestled in the Yorkshire Wolds, above the historic town of South Cave, learn the history of this three-generation farm. Walk among the vines before tasting four wines paired with locally sourced cheese and charcuterie to accompany the tasting.

Day 3

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll have chance to discover the cathedral city of York, considered the capital of the North, and with good reason. Step into a picture-perfect postcard of Englishness as you wander the cobblestone lanes, relics from bygone eras arousing curiosity at every corner, from Roman ruins to vestiges of the Viking era.

The walled city is steeped in history, and one can’t help but be transported back to times of yore just walking along York City Walls. Why not step into the 10th Century and explore the fascinating and unique Viking Jorvic Centre, or discover the darker history of the spooky York Dungeons, and, of course, York Minster is a must-visit, built in the Early English style and founded in the year 627! Fast-forwarding in time a little, it’s certain that no visit to York is complete without a stop at the celebrated Betty’s Tea Rooms for an afternoon tea! The beautiful interiors are inspired by the Queen Mary Ocean Liner and it’s been making a splash since 1936.

We also recommend exploring the quaint boutique shops nestled into the city’s alleyways. Arguably, nowhere else in the country is Englishness better preserved, and yet York has also become a hub for destination restaurants, cruises along the river, and The Shambles, a must-hit spot for fans of the cult classic Harry Potter.
